Be at least 18 years of age.
Consideration of felony convictions*. (See below)
Have no convictions for domestic battery or child abuse.
No DUI convictions in the past 3 years.
No use or possession of illegal drugs in the past 3-years with the exception of marijuana, which cannot have been used within the past 1-year.
Not currently under the jurisdiction of the court.
No dishonorable discharge.
Have an in-person interview.
Pass a criminal history and background check with references.
Be fingerprinted.
* No felony convictions in the last 7-years. Felony convictions will be reviewed in their totality on a case-by-case basis.

Teamwork in the field is our key to success.
Those who cannot perform the often required rigorous tasks associated with field function become a liability to themselves as well as the entire team.
Physical condition and safety work hand in hand. The physical agility test you will experience allows each candidate to demonstrate a minimum level of fitness necessary to perform the various functions you may be assigned to carry out.
Each year you will be required to complete a physical assessment which consists of a hike with your pack. These assessments take place in various places throughout Kootenai County and usually range between 5-7 miles in distance.
**Anyone not able to pass the above fitness requirements or under the care of medical personnel, will be placed as inactive until such time such member can re-take the fitness test and/or have a written note from a licensed medical practitioner allowing member to re-engage in physical activity.
